Toni Rezab, PHOMP Project Manager, will brief the Board on the March 30th Steering Committee Meeting. |

The Organizational Structure of Public Health – Seattle & King County
Dorothy Teeter, Interim Director, Public Health – Seattle & King County, will introduce the Department’s division leadership who will brief the Board on the services within their divisions.

Zoonotic Disease Prevention Code
Zoonotic diseases, or zoonoses, are transmitted from animals to humans, including those that are transmitted by insects (e.g. mosquitoes, fleas, ticks). Dr. Sharon Hopkins, Public Health Veterinarian, will provide an overview of the public health concerns posed by zoonoses. Roman Welyczko, Code Enforcement Coordinator, will explain the legal framework and development of the proposed amendments to Board of Health Code Title 8 for zoonotic disease prevention. Teri Barclay, Senior Health and Environmental Investigator, will summarize current rodent control practices and the proposed new rodent control regulations.
The Board will be asked to adopt the amended zoonotic disease prevention title, including the new rodent control chapter, at the May 2006 meeting.

The King County Board of Health sets county-wide public health policy, enacts and enforces local public health regulations, and carries out other duties of local boards of health specified in state law. These duties include enforcing state public health statutes, preventing and controlling the spread of infectious disease, abating nuisances, and establishing fee schedules for licenses, permits and other services.
