KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON - On Friday, April 15, the Artpatch Project, a non-profit organization affiliated with Public Health - Seattle & King County's Tobacco Prevention Program, is sponsoring the first 3rd Friday Artwalk in the University District. With tobacco companies being a significant source of funding for the local arts, Artpatch works to support the arts and to raise awareness about the need to find alternative sources of funding.
"We are extremely grateful that Artpatch and Public Health's Tobacco Prevention Program are supporting the U-District arts community," said Segue Fischlin, curator of the Peanut Gallery and facilitator of the U-District Artwalk. "We have created an Artwalk that engages the community and supports local businesses and artists."
The University District Artwalk from 6 to 8 p.m. will be hosted at over 30 locations. Artwalk guides are available at the Peanut Gallery, 5270A University Way, and at Laughing Buddha, 4517 University Way. In addition to showing art, there will be live music, painting, tarot readings, hors d'�0153;uvres and wine offered to visitors.
In conjunction with the Artwalk, the Tobacco Prevention Program is highlighting several University District smokefree restaurants and bars that have joined the Smokefree Coalition of Seattle. Smokefree events and celebrations will take place between April 15 and April 21 at:
