Briefing - Tuberculosis Control Program
Dr. Masa Narita will brief the Board regarding some of the current issues and trends associated with Public Health's Tuberculosis Control Program. Dr. Narita will provide a general overview of the disease, as well as discussion regarding tuberculosis among the homeless population in King County.

Briefing - Institute of Medicine – Core Indicators
In an effort to further the Board of Health's discussion regarding the Institute of Medicine's report, 'The Future of the Public's Health,' Dr. David Solet, from Public Health's Epidemiology, Planning, & Evaluation section, will present potential priority one core indicators. Evaluating and analyzing core indicator data is an ongoing process that is critical to understanding health issues in the community.

The King County Board of Health sets county-wide public health policy, enacts and enforces local public health regulations, and carries out other duties of local boards of health specified in state law. These duties include enforcing state public health statutes, preventing and controlling the spread of infectious disease, abating nuisances, and establishing fee schedules for licenses, permits and other services.
