Workshops for septic systems scheduled
KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON - When a septic system fails, the property owner can face repairs costing thousands of dollars. The system may even need to be replaced, sometimes at a cost of $10,000 - $15,000 or more. The impact of a failing system on the community and the public may also be substantial, if untreated sewage is discharged into the neighborhood or nearby waterway. To help septic system owners keep their systems running smoothly, Public Health - Seattle & King County will be holding workshops that address how a septic system works and what to do to prolong its life. Participants will learn:
- What safety precautions to take around a septic system.
- How to properly maintain your septic system
- Signs of system failure
- How to use water wisely to keep your system running optimally
- How to find out licensed King County septic system pumpers, installers, and maintainers
The one-day workshops will be held at the Eastgate Public Health Center, 14350 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue, 98007. The workshops will be held on:
- Thursday, May 6, 2004 from 6pm - 8:30pm; and
- Saturday, May 15, 2004 from 9:30am - 12pm.
