Venue change for King County Board of Health meeting on December 19th

KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON - Due to construction underway in the King County Council Chambers, the December 19, 2003 meeting of the King County Board of Health is being moved to Seattle City Hall, located on the corner of 5th and Cherry. The meeting will be held in the Boards and Commissions Room, Floor L2. The meeting is scheduled to run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Today's briefing will provide details about the Department's 2004 legislative priorities. In addition, Tom Bristow, staff to the King County Council, will provide an assessment of issues likely to be addressed by the 2004 Legislature.

8. Board Briefing - Public Health Preparedness and Response
Public Health staff will provide an overview of the emergency response challenges faced by Public Health, the ongoing Department efforts to address said challenges and how the Department is developing its capacity to respond to natural disasters, technological hazards and criminal acts.

The King County Board of Health sets county-wide public health policy, enacts and enforces local public health regulations, and carries out other duties of local boards of health specified in state law. These duties include enforcing state public health statutes, preventing and controlling the spread of infectious disease, abating nuisances, and establishing fee schedules for licenses, permits and other services.
