Medical Examiner's Statement: Cargo deaths at Pier 18

Wednesday, February 23, 2000

KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON - The King County Medical Examiner's Office has completed the investigation into the deaths of three adult Asian males found dead in a cargo container at Pier 18, Seattle, King County, Washington. United States Customs and Immigration officials discovered the bodies on January 10, 2000.

The three individuals are identified as:

  • DIAN BIAO JIANG, age unknown, died on or about 07 January 2000

  • BEN QING ZHU, age unknown, died on or about 09 January 2000

  • HUI ZHANG, age unknown, died on or about 01January 2000

All three individuals died as a result of acute malnutrition and dehydration. The manner is classified as Accident.
