KING COUNTY, WA - Briefing on treatment needs of injection drug users:
BOH 99-301 - Resolution: Make Managed Behavioral Health Services Comparable to Other Health Services in Cost, Coverage, and Benefits.
The King County Board of Health is holding its April meeting on Friday, April 16, 1999, 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The location is the Harborview Medical Center Board Room, Ground East Hospital 72, 325 Ninth Avenue, Seattle. The public is welcome to attend. The agenda is scheduled to be as follows:

- King County Health Action Plan Update – Monitoring and Community Benefits. A 1995 mandate to study health services and status in King County has resulted in the King County Health Action Plan being developed and now implemented. The presentation will focus on the collaborative fundraising successes the Plan's Community Benefits program has achieved based on the monitoring of health status trends for asthma, diabetes, and cervical cancer.
- Briefing on Treatment Needs of Injection Drug Users. Because injection drug use remains a very common mode of transmission of new HIV infection and because injection drug use remains high in King County, this briefing will update the Board and create an opportunity to discuss the possible responses to public health risks associated with injection drug use and HIV transmission.

Resolution No. 99-301 Recommending Provision of Managed Behavioral Health Services Coverage (Action Item) - The Board will consider adoption of a resolution supporting the recommendations of the King County Health Action Plan's workgroup on behavioral health services to make managed behavioral health services comparable to other health services in cost, coverage, and benefits. An alternative resolution will be introduced by Boardmember Dan Sherman. |
