KING COUNTY, WA - The King County Board of Health is holding its March meeting on Friday, March 19, 1999, 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The location is the Seattle City Council Chambers, 11th Floor, Municipal Building, 600 Fourth Avenue, Seattle. The public is welcome to attend. The agenda is scheduled to be as follows:

4. Chair's Report
» A panel of Public Health Department staff and Boardmember Joseph Pizzorno will make an educational presentation on cancer prevention and the role of public health.

5. Director's Report
» At the request of the Seattle delegation of the King County Board of Health, Chair Greg Nickels convened an Ad Hoc Committee on Underage Drinking to explore the ways in which the Board may address this problem. This group will provide an progress report.

6. Resolution No. 99-301 Recommending Provision of Managed Behavioral Health Services Coverage (Action Item) - A 1995 mandate to study health services and status in King County has resulted in the King County Health Action Plan being developed and now implemented. The Board will consider adoption of a resolution supporting the recommendations of the plan's workgroup on behavioral health services to make managed behavioral health services comparable to other health services in cost, coverage, and benefits.

7. Rulemaking on Revised On-Site Sewage Code (also referred to as Wastewater Code)(public hearing is closed) (Action Item) (The Board will hear limited public testimony (comments must regard amendments only) and vote on a major overhaul of the on-site sewage code, Title 13 of the Code of the King County Board of Health. Major changes include reduced sewer connection requirements for existing development with on-site sewage system failures, requirements for owners to provide routine monitoring and preventive maintenance of their systems, increased education, training and accountability requirements for industry persons, and incorporation of additional alternative technology as standard use options.)
