Upcoming Public Health Center moves
Public Health Seattle & King County is planning changes to its White Center, Renton, and Kent Public Health Centers.
White Center Public Health will be relocating to a new building in the King County Housing Authority's Greenbridge residential community. The nearby location is being built from the floor up with a focus on serving clients in the most efficient and comfortable way possible. Construction is underway with an expected opening this fall. The new center, to be called "White Center Public Health at Greenbridge," is at the corner of SW 97th and 8th Avenue SW.
Through a partnership with Renton Technical College, we plan to move Renton Public Health, located on Northeast 4th Street, across the street to a building on the college campus in 2013. Public Health's Renton Dental program would also move to this new center joining our WIC, Maternity Support Services and Field Nursing programs to offer our clients a full menu of services in one location. Details and a lease agreement are being worked out and we hope to begin construction later this year. We aim to move in the first half of 2013.
We are also planning a move for the Kent Public Health Center. The current location is a rented facility that has never been properly located or large enough for the number of clients we serve in Kent, and we now have the opportunity to move to a new and improved location. We hope to make a decision on the new leased location over the next few months. Then construction will begin, with an anticipated opening next year.
