Organizations working to stop human trafficking in King County

  • President Obama announced on September 25, 2012 efforts to combat human trafficking by announcing several initiatives led by the President's Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Human Trafficking in Persons. Download the report by Alliance to End Slavery and Trafficking (ATEST), a roadmap for the President's Administration.

  • Data on human trafficking is collected by the Federal Bureau of Justice Statistics. There are gaps in data collection, but data that is collected can be found at their webpage.

  • The Federal law on human trafficking, the Victims of Violence and Trafficking Protection Act, is up for reauthorization in 2013. For more information on data collection and on Federal and state legislation on human trafficking, visit the Data Collection and Reporting Project on Human Trafficking, housed at Northeastern University.
