Tire disposal and recycling

Tires are not considered hazardous waste and are not accepted at the hazardous waste drop off sites. Instead, take them to your nearest Transfer Station:

• City of Seattle Recycling and Disposal Stations
  Both Seattle transfer stations accept up to 4 tires per visit. Call the Seattle Public utilities at 206-684-3000 for rates and details. For Seattle residents only.

• King County Solid Waste Disposal Stations
  Transfer stations accept up to 4 tires per visit. Refer caller to KC Solid Waste at 206-296-4466 for details and prices. For King County Solid Waste customers only.

Other options for disposal

• Some recycling events accept tires. Contact King County Solid Waste Recycling at 206-296-4466 for special collection event information.
  
  
• Tire Dealers: Most tire dealers will take their customers' old tires only when they purchase new ones:
  • Phelp's Tire Co. -- 2520 Airport Way S., Seattle 206-622-8977, $3.50-8.50 per tire, depending upon size. Accepts passenger and truck tires. Rims OK, but an extra fee of $3.50 charged.
    
    
  • Schuyler Manufacturing -- 6901 Woodinville Redmond Rd., Woodinville, 425-488-2255. Truck tires only, No passenger tires. $1.50 each. Call for size requirements. Will pick up large loads and accepts large quantities.
