Monogamy facts

Monogamy means only having sex with one uninfected partner who only has sex with you.

Here's how:

1. Find a partner.
2. Both partners use condoms consistently and correctly for three months OR both partners abstain from sex with anyone for three months.
3. Both of you get tested (and treated if necessary) for HIV and other STDs.
4. If you are both not infected with HIV or other STDs and monogamous (and you don't use needles with drugs), condom-free sex is now safe.
5. If your relationship doesn't stay permanent, return to STEP One.

Don't assume your partner is monogamous. Discuss it and keep discussing it.
