About the Ryan White Care Services Program
The Ryan White Act is a federal program that addresses unmet health and social service needs of persons living with HIV (PLWH) across the United States and its territories. First passed by Congress in 1990 and reauthorized in 1996, 2000, and 2006, the program is designed to improve the quality and availability of care for low-income individuals and families. Ryan White funds can pay for services that are not covered by other resources, such as Medicaid, Medicare, or public or private insurance.Ryan White Program Part A funds provide emergency assistance to the urban areas most severely affected by the HIV epidemic. The federal grant to Public Health - Seattle & King County serves PLWH in King, Snohomish and Island counties. In order to be eligible for Ryan White-funded services, an individual must meet the following requirements:
- Documented as living with HIV, as confirmed by a primary medical provider or lab tests
- Resident of King, Snohomish or Island County
- Living at or below 200% of Federal Poverty Level (approximately $21,780 for a single person and $37,060 for a family of three).
Also, Individuals at or below 300% of Federal Poverty Level are eligible for case management services.
