Board of Health rulemaking

Board members, public health officials or interested persons may initiate rulemaking by submitting proposals or recommendations for establishing, amending or repealing rules or regulations to the Director of Health who shall be responsible for preparing them for Board consideration.

Notification regarding public hearings on proposed rules and regulations is available at least two weeks in advance of the public hearing. The information is also available on the Board of Health Web site. Notices of all public hearings are also published in the Seattle Times Classifieds section under legal notices at least 14 days in advance of the public hearing date.

At public hearings convened pursuant to the Board's rulemaking procedures (Title 2 of the Code of the King County Board of Health), the Board shall take oral or written testimony at the time and place of the hearing. (In order to ensure copies of written comments are available to Board members and meeting attendees, written testimony should be submitted to the Board Administrator the Monday prior the scheduled meeting).
