Wraparound for Youth and Parents

Wraparound is a process in which youth and their families take the lead in defining and deciding what is important to their family’s success. A trained facilitator will coordinate a team identified by the youth and family to support a drug and alcohol free life. This team may include people from treatment, school, recreational activities or a community or faith-based organization. The team will work together with direction from the youth and family to help prioritize their needs and services.

Wraparound services are often recommended when a youth and family are involved with more than one organization for services. This process may decrease the number of appointments and chaos for the family. Wraparound may be available through some outpatient agencies to support their treatment. If a youth is receiving counseling for substance abuse and/ or mental health treatment, they may be eligible for a Wraparound service.
