Family Services There are a variety of services available to help and support parents and families of persons who use or abuse alcohol and other drugs. Family Counseling/Therapy: A trained and licensed counselor focuses on how a family interacts, with the goal of helping to improve family interactions. This type of counseling may be provided in an office, home or other safe place. Parent Information Forums invite parents to become active in learning about the use of alcohol and other drugs among youth. Parents are informed about the services that are available in the community. Evening parent information forums feature experts who provide information about the effects of drugs and alcohol on brain development and other topics to help parents and youth get the help they need. www.samafoundation.org
Parent support groups available through the SAMA Foundation provide a series of groups for parents concerned about their teen's use of alcohol and other drugs. These groups are facilitated by Chemical Dependency Professionals and provide skills and other learning opportunities for parents. See www.samafoundation.org.
