The Community Organizing Program supports communities in reducing substance abuse and violence. We do this through our Community Organizing staff working with local communities to assess, design and implement community-based prevention strategies.
Community Organizing supports grass roots efforts by community members to act on solving their own problems - people pooling their resources to increase the quality of life for young people, families and the community at large.
The Community Organizing Program work is based on an evidence-based best practice prevention strategy that focuses on reducing risks facing young people and increasing protective factors in children's and families' lives to reduce the likelihood of substance abuse and violence.

The Community Organizing Program Advisory Board oversees the program goals, and state and federal funds, including Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities funds that King County receives through the Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development.
