King County Mental Health System Transformation

The King County Mental Health, Chemical Abuse and Dependency Services Division and the mental health agencies within King County that provide publicly funded mental health services are committed to system transformation. The publicly funded mental health system will help the people who participate in mental health services to recover as they define it. As in any recovery journey, this effort on a system level requires:

  • thoughtful planning
  • identifying and building on strengths
  • working together and collaborating with everyone involved
  • education for all about recovery
  • developing goals with measurable steps to achieve those goals
  • paying for services to become recovery-oriented.

Strong consumer voice and participation at all levels of planning and policy development are key to reaching the goal of system transformation to a Recovery model of services.

We're making progress!! Together, these activities will result in a mental health system that truly supports recovery for the people who participate in mental health services in King County.

Please see "Mental Health Recovery Plan & Summary of Activities" for information about activities through 2007.

Please see "Mental Health Recovery Roundup" for information about continuing transformation activities.
