Peer Specialists
This is a peer position, meaning that eligible candidate is a paraprofessional who is a consumer of mental health services (or a parent of a child receiving mental health services) who receives training and supervision by a mental health professional, and provides support to peers all according to the King County Standards for Peer Support Services.
Peer Specialist – FISH (Forensic Intensive Supportive Housing) Full time with full benefits (Seattle – Kasota Apartments).
Works with adult clients who have a mental illness and who are homeless. Supports and provides direct therapeutic services. Also provides services to adults who require additional supervision in lieu of hospitalization; or to maintain success at home, in school or in social activities. This peer must be diagnosed positive for HIV/AIDS. Related experience required. AA degree, computer proficiency and/or Certified Peer Counselor preferred. Good communication skills important. WDL with excellent driving record necessary.

Peer Specialists
This is a peer position, meaning that eligible candidate is a paraprofessional who is a consumer of mental health services (or a parent of a child receiving mental health services) who receives training and supervision by a mental health professional, and provides support to peers all according to the King County Standards for Peer Support Services.
Peer Specialist – Homeless Services
Two positions, both part time; one in Project Homestead (30 hours per week) with full (pro-rated) benefits and one in Housing First (20 hours per week) with partial benefits (Tukwila). Work with families who have multiple barriers such as mental illness, chemical dependency issues, CPS involvement, physical disabilities and/or legal histories which are barriers to housing. Provide peer support services to adults and their children who require additional support to maintain success at home, in school or in social activities. Related experience required. AA degree, computer proficiency and/or Certified Peer Counselor preferred. Good communication skills important. WDL with excellent driving record necessary.
Salary = DOQ.

Peer Specialist – Adult Services
Full time with full benefits (Tukwila; position may be split into two part time 20 hours per week positions with partial benefits). Works alongside professional staff providing living proof that recovery is possible. Provides flexible services that are customized to the needs of the individual and that allow the peer to act as a role model of recovery. Related experience required. AA degree, computer proficiency and/or Certified Peer Counselor preferred. Good communication skills important. WDL with excellent driving record necessary.

TRAINING
There are no trainings to announce at this time.
CONNECTIONS
Helen Nilon, a peer support specialist at Navos, has started a support group for other peer support specialists. It is a small group - generally 4 to 10 people. Helen typically facilitates the meetings and they talk about a myriad of things which peers are faced with when returning to work: co-workers, stress of working; sleep; current job opportunities; etc.
The group meets on the 4th Monday, at the Burien Campus of Navos, 1010 S 146th Street each month. Email Helen for more information: thenilongroup@comcast.net
