Parent Partner - MIDD (Mental Illness and Drug Dependency) Wrap Delivery Team Wraparound Program Two positions, both part time (30 hours per week with flexible work hours; including some nights and weekends) with full (pro-rated) benefits (Bellevue). Responsibilities include providing direct advocacy and day to day support and Team involvement to parents/caregivers. Promotes development of self determination, independence, skill building, self empowerment and self advocacy in parent/caregivers. Educates and assists parents/caregivers in navigating systems such as IEP's, juvenile justice, DDD, DSHS and other community resources. Provides resources, referrals and linkages that will enable strength building. Attends meetings as requested by family. Washington State Peer Counselor Certification, or the ability/availability to begin the certification process within the first year of employment; experience with system advocacy for own family or others; willingness to partner with professionals necessary. Must be a parent or caregiver of a child/youth who is or has been involved in the systems of care. Must have experience with severely emotionally disturbed children/youth and a parent's perspective and the intimate knowledge of the expectations and range of experiences of parents and caregivers of children with serious emotional and behavioral disorders. Wraparound Parent Partner - Child and Family Services Certified Peer Counselor Valley Cities currently has two openings for individuals that have a passion for partnering with parents/caretakers, providers, and systems in advocating for families of children with complex behavioral and emotional challenges. Provide peer counseling and support, drawing on common experiences as a peer, for parents and caregivers by encouraging them to regain hope in, and control over, their own lives as well as their children's lives. Promote self-determination, empowerment, personal responsibility for recovery and wellness, and assist parent/caregivers to advocate for themselves and their children. Partner with agency clinicians, wraparound facilitators, and other members of the caregiver/parent's team in creating wraparound plans that empower clients to reach life goals and/or collaborate with the treatment team to promote a team culture in which each client's point of view, experiences and preferences are recognized, understood and respected, and in which client decision making in treatment planning is maximized and supported. Qualified applicants must have experience raising a child involved with a child-serving system (mental health, juvenile court, DCFS, etc.) and two years experience related to job duties. Bridgeways is a Non Profit Community Mental Health Agency serving clients suffering from chronic mental illness. We are seeking a Certified Peer Counselor to work with our clients to provide support, drawing on common experiences as a peer, to validate clients' experiences and to provide guidance and encouragement to clients to take responsibility and actively participate in their own recovery. Peer Counselor will work collaboratively with clinical team in assessing clients' status and ongoing assessments. Bridgeways is in Snohomish County.

TRAININGThere are no trainings to announce at this time. CONNECTIONSHelen Nilon, a peer support specialist at Navos, has started a support group for other peer support specialists. It is a small group - generally 4 to 10 people. Helen typically facilitates the meetings and they talk about a myriad of things which peers are faced with when returning to work: co-workers, stress of working; sleep; current job opportunities; etc. The group meets on the 4th Monday, at the Burien Campus of Navos, 1010 S 146th Street each month.
