Dealing with Workplace Stress

Coping with symptoms The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reports that behavioral health disorders affect more than 20 percent of the nation's workforce and constitute five of the ten leading causes of disability. Untreated depression alone costs companies upwards of $50 billion per year in reduced productivity related to absenteeism and "presenteeism".

Employers can help workers by providing information about behavioral health disorders, employee assistance programs, manager training on recognizing these disorders in employees, and a work environment that is as positive and stress-free as possible.  Good mental health is good for the bottom line.
