Recovery Advisory Committee
The Recovery Advisory Committee (RAC) is an active coalition of consumers, families, and professionals helping to advise and guide all aspects of the implementation of the King County Mental Health Recovery Plan. The RAC provides direct consumer, family, and provider input into MHCADSD and provider recovery transformation activities and outcomes.
Membership
The RAC includes two members of the King County Mental Health Advisory Board; one member of the Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Administrative Board; at least two family members of consumers or NAMI members; four past or current consumers of public mental health services; four staff members of provider agencies; and, two staff from MHCADSD. The King County Mental Health Recovery Specialist chairs the committee, organizes the agendas, and regularly reports on the activities and recommendations of the RAC to the Plan Management Group of MHCADSD.
Responsibilities:
- Provide regular feedback about community and provider perceptions of how the recovery implementation process is going.
- Identify barriers to recovery implementation, unintended consequences, and recommended ways to reduce or eliminate barriers/unintended consequences.
- Provide recommendations on strategies for promoting consumer and family member leadership at all levels of the system.
- Provide recommendations for improving recovery implementation at provider agencies.
- Provide recommendations on how to improve performance on key recovery outcomes.
- Provide feedback about recovery-related legislation being proposed to the King County Council.
- Provide feedback regarding required reports about recovery transformation to the King County Council.
- At least annually evaluate RAC performance in relation to its charter statement.
Meeting Information
RAC members meet on the third Tuesday of the month from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the Chinook Building.
