Mental Health Advocacy
Advocates play an important role in contributing to the mental health community. The Mental Health, Chemical Abuse and Dependency Services Division (MHCADSD) partners with advocates in a spirit of cooperation to improve the mental health system. Advocates provide input about legislative issues and get the community involved in taking action to improve and protect the rights of individuals and families affected by mental illness.
The MHCADSD Quality Review Team (QRT) provides advocacy services to individuals and families enrolled in the mental health system. The QRT also assists individuals with understanding client rights and finding out about the client services that are available.
MHCADSD also works with advocates each year to promote the annual legislative priorities, which focus on enhancing mental health services and maintaining adequate mental health funding and support at state and local levels.
