My Home, My LifeThe My Home, My Life is a project funded by the KCDDD and sponsored by the Washington Initiative for Supported Employment. This project consists of monthly family networking meetings currently held in Seattle, Shoreline, and Newcastle. This is an opportunity for families to network about housing and other topics related to independent living for individuals with developmental disabilities and find out about current resources and available options. This project uses the principals of person centered planning to assist young adults with developmental disabilities to plan for community living options. These individuals might have limited or no funding for services. Individuals who want to plan and implement a move into the community receive assistance with building support teams, planning the housing proces, maximizing service dollars, individualizing solutions to in-home supports, and accessing alternative supports.
