Task Force on Regional Human Services

The Task Force on Regional Human Services, made up of private citizens representing a broad cross-section of business, social services, philanthropy, faith and government, was convened by King County Executive Ron Sims in February 2004 and charged with examining the regional human service system to identify practical and strategic recommendations for stabilizing, improving and maintaining the system for the future.

The Task Force met for about six months to study the funding mechanisms in place for regional human services – from the county, cities, and other partners – at the time of their study. They studied human services by looking at an identified set of goal areas countywide. They reached a unanimous conclusion that there were insufficient funds to support human services in King County and identified possible future funding mechanisms and next steps that would help to stabilize the human services safety net for the future.
