King County Benchmarks: economy

The King County Countywide Planning Policies state: "Jurisdictions should cooperatively create an environment which sustains the economic vitality of the region and which contributes to manageable economic growth. Jurisdictions shall recognize that King County is part of a larger regional economy, which is strongly linked by trade to the national and international economies."

The Benchmark Program tracks the following outcomes of the Countywide Planning Policies related to economic vitality:

  • Promote family-wage jobs
  • Increase income and reduce poverty
  • Increase business formation, expansion, and retention
  • Increase jobs that add to King County's economic base
  • Increase educational skill levels
