In 2008, King County established the Office of Strategic Planning and Performance Management (OSPPM) to bring three countywide functions into one office: management analysis and planning, performance management and measurement and business relations and economic development.

OSPPM’s purpose is to facilitate strategic planning, innovation, sustainability and accountability across county government through:

Business Relations and Economic Development Section

The Business Relations and Economic Development section works to attract companies to King County to create jobs and support thriving neighborhoods and cultural resources. It does so by bringing regional cities and businesses together on projects that can spark economic growth for King County residents and businesses.

Performance Management Section

The Performance Management section works to improve performance, accountability, and transparency in every county agency and department. Staff compile information for the public on county government performance and help county agencies and departments develop and implement performance management systems.

Strategic Planning And Policy Section

Staff in the Strategic Planning and Policy section link new initiatives and policy directions to program and service delivery by departments and agencies. Their goal is to foster livable communities and high quality of life in King County.
