Social Media GuidelinesThe role of technology in the 21st century workplace is constantly expanding. Social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter and blogs can improve interactivity between government agencies and the public, reaching new and different populations from traditional media sources.
King County departments should choose a combination of traditional and social media methods that complement each other and distribute information to relevant audiences. These guidelines inform employees and the public, and ensure transparency and consistency when incorporating social media tools and technologies for work purposes.
These guidelines are applicable to Executive Branch departments and employees who create or contribute to social media both on and off the King County website and related domains. It is an evolving companion piece to the King County Executive Social Media Policy.
