The City of Seattle's measure to fund local parks passed in the Aug. 5 election:

"I'm pleased that Seattle voters stepped forward to guarantee permanent parks funding and help catch up on deferred maintenance at our city's parks, playfields, and green spaces.

"The need for this measure was a direct result of our having the worst state and local tax system in the nation, courtesy of Tim Eyman and friends. When that's fixed, we can discontinue this funding of essential services through issue-by-issue, à la carte propositions."
