Executive welcomes support of business community for interim two-year transit funding

Summary

Story

King County Executive Dow Constantine today praised the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce for its support for the Congestion Reduction Charge, authorized for King County last month by state lawmakers to prevent major transit service reductions:

“This support for the Congestion Reduction Charge shows that the local business community gets it: we need a strong system of public transit to get people to and from work and get our economy moving again.

“Maintaining our excellent Metro transit system is essential to the economic recovery and vitality of our regional economy.

“The funds raised by the temporary vehicle license fee would help preserve the overall level of Metro bus service that riders now enjoy. It is an interim measure that provides a two-year bridge to a more permanent solution, such as a larger state transportation package.”
