Educational programs and resources

The Washington State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) sponsors an annual essay contest to promote study and thought about the life and meaning of Dr. King. The essay contest is collaboratively supported by the OSPI's Curriculum and Assessment, Title I, and Equity Education departments. Each year has a specific theme. Students in grades 5, 8, and 11 are eligible to participate, and submissions are due each February.
