Other elected officials present and entertainment

Sheriff Sue Rahr, Prosecuting Attorney Dan Satterberg, King County Councilmembers Larry Phillips, Jane Hague, and Jan Drago; Superior Court Judge Mary Yu, District Court Judge Anne Harper, and Assessor Lloyd Hara attended the Celebration.

For the third year, veteran arts manager and media personality Vivian Phillips hosted the event.

Musical entertainment was provided by Dr. Quinton Morris, accompanied by Kevin Kaukl. Dr. Morris, a concert violinist on the faculty of Seattle University, performed music written by two composers of African descent: the Chevalier de Saint-Georges writing in the 1700's and William Grant Still who died in 1978.

The video "Lift Every Voice and Sing" shown at the Celebration was produced by Balm in Gilead in commemoration of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, and presented at The African American Church Inaugural Ball by Balm in Gilead. It is the music and lyrics to this powerfully important song set against the background of a deeply moving pictorial of our legacy of trials and triumphs.  It honors many dedicated women and men whose achievements paved the way for this nation's first African American President
