Breaking Barriers22nd Annual King County Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. CelebrationSave the Date: Thursday, January 15, 2009 - Location: Paramount Theatre, Seattle
- Time: 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm
From Executive Sims and the 2009 Celebration Planning Committee Preparations are underway for our 22nd Annual Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday in January. Both I and the 2009 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Planning Committee want to recognize the notable accomplishments of King County employees who have carried on the work of Dr. King, either through their individual efforts or efforts of their agencies or work groups. King County employees have shown great dedication to making Dr. King's vision a reality in their workplace and in their communities. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award is an opportunity for all of us to honor these achievements. The Humanitarian Awards are awarded in two categories: employee and workgroup. You are invited to nominate candidates for the awards for employees or workgroups who have gone above and beyond their regular job duties to demonstrate and exceptional commitment to improving the human condition in our workplace and community. The awards honor those who have not been constrained by their job descriptions and who epitomize the spirit of humanitarianism. The nomination form includes more information on each category. The awards will be presented during the 22nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration to be held at the Paramount Theatre on Thursday January 15, 2009 from 12 - 1 p.m. The theme for this year's celebration is "Breaking Barriers." The award winners will exemplify an ongoing commitment to the ideals of Dr. King, and I encourage all county employees to join in recognizing their efforts.
