Tools to Achieve your Cool County Goals
Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction
- The King County GreenTools Toolkit is intended to guide municipalities in creating successful green building programs.
- Healthscape - King County and the Healthscape tools are geared toward non-motorized transportation planning, development impact assessment, and enhancing community walkability.
- The Puget Sound Regional Green Fleet Initiative was launched at the King County Clean Vehicles Now! conference in September 2007. The goal of this initiative is to develop a uniform "green fleet standard" based on three elements:
- Specific targets, goals, and strategies regarding the purchase of clean vehicle technologies and the reduction of fossil fuels;
- Policies that promote best practices in fleet design and operation; and
- Shared information on the total type and quantity of fuel consumed and vehicle miles traveled on an annual basis.
Building Climate Change Resilience
Preparing for Climate Change: A Guidebook for Local, Regional and State Governments was written by the Climate Impacts Group at the University of Washington and King County, in association with ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability. It serves as the basis for ICLEI's Climate Resilient Communities Program, funded by NOAA.
