2013 State of the County

King County Executive Dow Constantine delivers 2013 State of the County address

With a backdrop of iconic Seattle landmarks including the Old Rainier Brewery sign and pink Lincoln's Toe Truck, King County Executive Dow Constantine delivered his annual State of the County address Feb. 4 at the Musuem of History & Industry.

"Together, we can move forward to keep the state of the county, and of this region, strong. We can do it. Our history shows us we can," the Executive said to a packed house of media, residents and King County employees.

In his speech, Executive Constantine outlined several new initiatives that will protect and grow King County's built, natural and human infrastructure. These include:

  • A new effort to enroll 180,000 uninsured King County residents into affordable healthcare
  • A directive to develop innovative strategies to prevent gun violence in King County
  • A Regional Veterans Initiative to provide simpler access to services for our military veterans and their families.
