King County Community Enhancement Initiative

The Community Enhancement Initiative (CEI) is a collaborative effort to promote healthy, vibrant communities in Skyway and White Center. Enhancement efforts are aimed at reducing regional disparities and bringing much needed improvements to quality of life in these neighborhoods that many lower-income communities call home.

To promote stability for economically diverse communities, CEI charts a course of equitable development, ensuring that people in all communities participate in and benefit from economic growth and activity. Community empowerment serves as a guiding principle of CEI work, encouraging meaningful community participation and leadership in enhancement projects.

Working across county agencies, CEI projects look to achieve multiple community goals for encouraging economic vitality, increasing community safety, preserving quality affordable housing, promoting environmental stewardship, improving parks and open space, facilitating healthy activity and reducing health disparities. The interdepartmental CEI team explores innovative opportunities to achieve multiple goals while making effective use of existing King County resources, assets and work programs.
