Week of November 28, 2011

  • King County is continuing to work on a repair plan for the North Creek Force Main in Woodinville where an overflow of highly treated wastewater was reported.  Inspection of the East Force Main has been completed, and engineers are developing a plan to repair the pipe. No work is expected to occur at the State Route 202 location during the week of November 28. There are no flows in the pipeline at this time.

  • 3:45pm Update: King County is continuing to work on an inspection of the East Force Main pipeline. After yesterday’s excavation, crews identified some corrosion and are carrying out work to conduct a pipe inspection while the pipeline is excavated and there is access. Currently, they are planning to drain the pipeline and run a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera in the pipeline for inspection. The pipeline still has treated, disinfected wastewater in it that will have to be pumped out into trucks and hauled for disposal in King County’s sewer system. Crews have begun work to drain the pipeline and expect to be working on Saturday, November 19 to complete the inspection. We will have more information on a repair plan next week, after the inspection is completed.

November 17, 2011

  • 3:30pm Update: East Force Main repair project on SR 202. Crews have located a conduit with fiber optic cable and are now working around it and installing a 16 foot long trench box to be able to excavate around the damaged pipeline. There is a second force main in the same trench, so it is critical to isolate the pipeline being worked on. The excavation will allow an evaluation of the extent of the repair and finalizing a repair plan. Work is expected to take up to a week, but may be longer depending on the extent of the problem.

The crews will install security fencing and barrels with flashing lights around the excavation tonight.
