Project Phases

There are four individual projects in south King County that will be built in two phases: Phase A and Phase B. Recent engineering work has focused on pipe segments that need additional capacity and the phasing of those projects was created based on capacity needs.

Phase A projects

Phase A projects consist of two new pipelines:

  • Stuck River Trunk in Auburn
  • Kent East Hill Diversion in Kent

These pipelines are currently being designed. Construction will begin in 2012, and the pipelines will be in service in 2013.

Phase B projects

Phase B projects consist of two new pipelines:

  • Pacific Pump Station Discharge in Pacific and Algona
  • Auburn West Interceptor Parallel in Auburn

Construction of these pipelines is presently anticipated to start in 2014. These pipelines will be in service in 2015.

Your comments and ideas are welcome

King County is committed to being a good neighbor and welcomes your comments. Throughout the project, the county will work directly with the cities of Kent, Auburn, Algona and Pacific and the public to ensure that suggestions and concerns are addressed.

As the design is further developed, the county will work with local jurisdictions, key stakeholders and the public to identify potential community and environmental impacts-and ways to minimize them. This work will continue during environmental review, permitting, construction, and long-term operations and maintenance of the facilities.
