The King County Wastewater Treatment Division is upgrading the Sunset and Heathfield Pump Stations to protect public health and the environment by conveying the region's wastewater for treatment safely and reliably.

Need for project

This project will increase capacity at the Sunset and Heathfield pump stations to meet the area's growing wastewater conveyance needs. These facilities regularly carry flows beyond the design standards stated in the Regional Wastewater Services Plan (RWSP) and are approaching their capacity. Increased population growth upstream has increased the use of the large pumps, affecting overall reliability, performance and efficiency of the system. Adding capacity will allow King County to continue safely and reliably conveying wastewater flows from Sammamish, Issaquah and Bellevue to the South Treatment Plant in Renton.

King County will be requesting proposals to conduct technical analysis of the current conditions of the pump stations, perform predesign, design and construction management services.
