53rd Avenue Pump Station upgrade
The pump station is located at 53rd Ave. SW and Alki Blvd.
King County designers worked with neighbors and property owners to help plan the above-ground structures required for the upgraded facility. Air circulation vents, a generator stack, a fire hose hook up and a backflow preventer are the only above ground features
Facility access hatches are located next to the pedestrian and bike way along Alki Avenue.
Completed winter 2010 From spring 2008 to winter 2010 King County rebuilt the ageing 53rd Avenue Pump Station and added new odor control equipment, upgrades to the facility’s electrical and mechanical systems, and doubling the size of the below-ground facilities. This facility will provide safe, reliable service for the next 50 years in the Alki area of Seattle. The renovated pump station can pump 17 million gallons of wastewater per day to the county's regional treatment plant at West Point in Seattle.
