This site provides information on the facilitation of British Columbia's initiative on Green Building. It targets both new and existing facilities through two related programs: New Buildings Program and Retrofit. These programs were recently initiated to develop a policy for the integration of green building principles and practices into the design of provincially-funded buildings. This site documents their processes utilized to undertake the initiative and includes the following categories: Program Overview, Pilot Projects, Performance Targets, Design Process, Reporting Structure, Resources, and many other useful documents. The Guide to Green Buildings Resources is a very large Web resource guide-this encompasses all aspects of development and sustainable building. The case studies section of the Web site lists several detailed examples of buildings in B.C. that have incorporated sustainable features. Santa Monica Construction and Design Guidelines The Santa Monica Construction and Design Guidelines include required and recommended practices that are intended to reduce life-cycle environmental impacts associated with the construction and operation of both commercial and municipal developments and major remodel projects in Santa Monica. They provide specific green design and construction strategies for Building Site and Form, Landscaping, Transportation, Building Envelope and Space Planning, Building Materials, Water Systems, Electrical Systems, HVAC Systems, Control Systems, Construction Management, and Commissioning. The Guidelines were developed for, and specifically apply to, institutional and commercial offices, light industrial buildings, commercial retail buildings, multi-family residences, and hotels and motels. This valuable resource is also available in PDF format.
