Large River Mouth Processes

Water is a powerful force, and a large river mouth is the confluence of several different sources: fluvial energy descending the river itself; nearshore energy moving along the shoreline; and wave energy moving into the shoreline. These combined forces move material and nutrients in the nearshore and estuarine environments.
