Sustainable Forestry in King County, Washington

Youth in Forestry Grants
Grants and technical assistance are available for community-based projects that engage youth in enhancing forests and wooded areas while gaining life skills. To learn how we can help your community with tree plantings, training or forest management projects visit the Natural Resource Stewardship Network.

If your project is designed to create wildlife habitat by planting native trees and understory in urban areas, also visit the Wild Places in City Spaces Grant page.

Forestry Opportunity Grants
The Forestry Opportunity Grants Program helps strengthen infrastructure for forestry, promote forest products-based businesses in rural areas and add to the diversity and self-sufficiency of local economies. The program is a component of the County’s Rural Economic Strategies.

Successful grant applications will show innovative approaches to growing markets for forest products, promote cooperative forest management, or raise awareness of the environmental benefits of sustainable forest management.

The Office of Business Relations and Economic Development offers one-on-one assistance to forest landowners to develop business plans. To learn more contact Julia Larson , Rural Economic Strategy Advisor.

These services are provided by the King County Forestry Program.
