Grant DavidsonIn Memory: Grant Davidson
1953 - 2011
The King County Agriculture Commission and county staff mourn the loss of Grant Davidson, who died May 3, 2011. Grant worked tirelessly to encourage and promote agriculture throughout Washington and helped many local growers get their start. Over the past 18 years as a farmers market manager, he helped to start five area farmers markets – Lake Forest Park, Woodinville, Crossroads, Kirkland and Mountlake Terrace. He served on the board of the Washington State Farmers Market Association for eight years, three as president, and on the King County Agriculture Commission for six years. His advocacy for the Farmers Market Nutrition Program helped expand the opportunities for low income families to shop at farmers markets. Last fall, Executive Dow Constantine recognized Grant’s contributions to the success of farmers markets in King County by declaring October 10 to be Grant Davidson Farmers Market Day (proclamation, Acrobat pdf).
