Announcements

  • Department of Ecology, State of Washington
Wastewater Regionalization Final Report to the Legislature, October 2009
Description:  Providing regional wastewater services and managing regional partnerships is an enormous topic.  This report can really only serve as a broad overview or introduction to the topic.  Some broad conclusions can be drawn, based partially on the case studies presented in chapter 6 of this report.  These conclusions are also based on numberous contacts with elected and appointed officials of communities that have experience with regional facilities.  And lastly, they are based on decades of professional experience gained by Ecology through NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimiantion System) and state wastewater discharge permitting processes and the administration and management of water quality focused state and federal grant and loan programs.
  • Note from the Local Hazardous Waste Management Program - Jay Watson, jay.watson@kingcounty.gov

In an effort to give you broader access to what our Program works on, and its accomplishments, we are in the process of adding information to our Program website.  If you there now (www.govlink.org/hazwaste) and click on the "About Us" tab, you will find that we are now posting the Management Coordination Committee meeting agendas and minutes.

We are also in the process of adding a "Program Reports" tab in that same location which will have the Program's Annual reports and our quarterly reports.  These reports contain details about the individual projects that our Program works on, as well as the Program's financial information as it pertains to our work.
  • The Puget Sound Partnership has released its "Draft Action Agenda: Our Roadmap to Puget Sound Restoration" for comment.
The draft and a link to provide comments can be found at http://www.psp.wa.gov/.
  • LiquidAssets_100Liquid Assets, a ninety-minute documentary, tells the story of essential infrastructure systems:  water, wastewater, and stormwater. These systems - some in the ground for more than 100 years - provide a critical public health function and are essential for economic development and growth. Largely out of sight and out of mind, these aging systems have not been maintained, and some estimates suggest this is the single largest public works endeavor in our nation's history.

Exploring the history, engineering challenges, and political and economic realities in urban and rural locations, the documentary provides an understanding of the hidden assets that support our way of life.
  • Water Environment Federation Webcast: Lessons Learned and Constructability Issues at MBR Plants
Description: This webcast will highlight issues related to construction at MBR facilities and lessons learned at plants across the United States.
View the handout (posted on E&P subcommittee archives page)
