Industrial wastewater discharge approvalsDischarging or sending contaminated industrial stormwater to the King County sewage system
The King County Industrial Waste Program regulates wastewater discharges of contaminated stormwater. The program gives approval to discharge contaminated stormwater. Dischargers must complete a supplemental application for discharge of contaminated stormwater that must accompany a KCIW industrial wastewater discharge permit application. About contaminated stormwater discharges: Stormwater becomes contaminated by industrial activity when it falls on areas with material handling equipment or activities, raw materials, intermediate products, final products, waste materials, byproducts, or industrial machinery. (See King County Code 28.82.360 for a complete list.) Sewer charges: Where applicable, sewer charges will be levied to those discharging contaminated stormwater to the King County sewer system. Billing procedures update - see Other Fees on the KCIW Fees Internet page. Wet weather months: the county's sewer capacity may be limited during wet weather months (November - April). Industries should take care not to cause or add to sewage overflows.
