(4/18/11) Are you accessing the most up-to-date King County Code to understand Industrial Waste regulations? KCIW sends a booklet of the applicable sections of King County Code Title 28 to facilities when it issues new and renewed industrial wastewater discharge permits and authorizations. Some facilities may be consulting a version of the booklet provided to them prior to a spring 2011 update of the booklet that reflected 2010 updates to County code. Facilities can request up-to-date printouts from KCIW (see contact information lower left). King County Code Title 28 can also be viewed online.

County code was updated in fall 2010 primarily as a result of amendments to the U.S. EPA's Pretreatment Streamlining Final Rule but also to clarify or enhance existing regulations and to acknowledge other changes in federal requirements. KCIW has provided Web updates (including the 12/15/10 entry below) and recent newsletter articles about code updates. Learn more about the changes to regulations.

(3/6/11) KCIW provides new Construction Dewatering Request Form: KCIW recently revised its Construction Dewatering Request Form to address internal permitting and regulatory needs as well as to respond to feedback provided by industrial users of the sewer system. The form is used by construction project owners, developers and their contractors to request discharge of construction dewatering to the County's sanitary sewer.
