About the Industrial Waste Program

Since 1969, the Industrial Waste Program has required many industries to pretreat wastewater before discharging it into the sewer. The result has been a continuous improvement in water quality and biosolids.

Ongoing technical assistance includes a program brochure, a newsletter, periodic workshops announced several months in advance on our updates page and technical resources Internet pages. Program staff are always willing to answer questions and inquiries.

Every year we recognize industrial users of the sewer system that have maintained an excellent record of compliance with regulations with our Awards Program, which also features other awards for excellence in pretreatment.

The Industrial Waste Advisory Committee has met to exchange ideas with the program since 2000.
