Feb. 9, 2012 ‘Cavalia’ and King County offer special access for therapeutic riding center participants King County provides venue for special performance, supports Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center through grant funding The popular equine extravaganza “Cavalia” has enjoyed an extended run at King County’s Marymoor Park, thanks to strong community support. In return, “Cavalia” has also extended a philanthropic hand to a local non-profit, Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center. On two special days in January, “Cavalia” opened its doors to Little Bit riders and volunteers with free tickets as well as special access to meet some of the show’s horses and human performers. “Cavalia’s first goal is to bring happiness to all of humanity,” said Normand Latourelle, “Cavalia’s” president and artistic director. “Being associated with Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center reinforces that mission. Our common link is the bond between humans and horses.” “Little Bit is thrilled to be able to provide our clients and volunteers with this tremendous opportunity to see this show and meet some of the performers,” said Kathy Alm, Executive Director of Little Bit. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to Normand and the rest of the ‘Cavalia’ team for taking the time to give us such a wonderful experience.” King County partnered with “Cavalia” to provide this unique entertainment to residents of the Puget Sound region by offering this outstanding venue for the show at Marymoor Park. “Cavalia” concludes its extended run Feb. 12. King County is also a partner with Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center, providing the organization with a $75,000 Youth Sports Facilities Grant this year to help complete their new facility. “King County is proud of its partnerships with ‘Cavalia’ and Little Bit, which have both greatly benefited the region at large,” said King County Parks Director, Kevin Brown. With the YSFG grant, Little Bit will be able to build an outdoor arena and round pen for future riders. Currently, the waiting list for Little Bit stands at more than 200 children and adults, and expansion to the 17-acre Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center at Dunmire Stables will enable the organization to reduce the list and provide life-changing opportunities to more than 500 children and adults with disabilities each week.
