Free wood debris recycling continues Feb. 4-5 for King County residents affected by storms

County collects 500-plus tons of limbs, branches, other wood debris, Jan. 28-29

Storm debris  King County is offering residents a second-consecutive weekend of free and convenient disposal of wood debris Feb. 4-5, to help them recover from January’s snow and wind storms.

Wood debris recycling for King County residents is available at four locations:

  • The Shoreline (8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.), Enumclaw (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) and Cedar Falls (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) solid waste facilities. For directions, visit http://your.kingcounty.gov/solidwaste/index.asp; and
  • Kent’s Russell Road Park, 24400 Russell Rd., Kent (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

Residents dropped off more than 500 tons of branches, limbs and other wood debris during last weekend’s collection events, which are open to all King County residents and exclusively for collecting wood debris from the recent storms.

Stumps, logs and limbs no longer than six feet in length are allowed – no brush, leaves, grass clippings, sod or soil can be accepted. Residents delivering wood debris are reminded to secure their loads. To ease with removal and to help speed up service, residents are asked to place debris on top of a tarp or sheet of plywood.

There are have several additional storm debris disposal options available, including curbside recycling (yard waste cart) and commercial recycling companies that charge a fee for their service, but may prove to be more convenient for some residents.
