Aug. 15, 2011 King County seeks citizens to serve on committee, offer input on solid waste issuesKing County Solid Waste Division is looking for citizen representatives to serve on a volunteer advisory committee that provides input on solid waste management issues affecting King County residents and the solid waste and recycling services they receive.The King County Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) reviews and advises the County on solid waste policy and operational issues, including the County’s Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan and the annual budget. SWAC selects its own chair, adopts rules of order, and conducts its own meetings. Information and staff support are provided by the Solid Waste Division. SWAC meetings are held on the morning of the third Friday of each month at the Solid Waste Division's offices at the King Street Center in Seattle. The time commitment is approximately five hours per month. Applicants must be King County residents living outside the cities of Seattle and Milton, and should have an interest in recycling and solid waste issues.
